Humanitarian Work
The Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF), founded by Sir Elton John in 1992, stands as one of the world’s most impactful privately funded organizations dedicated to eradicating AIDS. Since its inception, the Foundation has been unwavering in its mission to provide treatment, advance prevention, and foster education, raising over $300 million to support more than 1,200 transformative initiatives globally.
Wang has been a generous benefactor of EJAF’s prestigious Annual Academy Awards Viewing Party, Hollywood’s largest and most high-profile fundraising event on Oscar night, contributing for two consecutive years (2011, 2012). From 2014 to 2016, she resumed her role as a patron, a position she also held for the New York Enduring Vision benefit in October 2013. This distinguished event, which honors extraordinary contributions to the fight against AIDS, notably recognized Hillary Clinton in 2013 with the Founder’s Award for her tireless commitment to the cause.
amfAR, the American Foundation for AIDS Research, continues to play a vital role on the global stage, advancing research, treatment, and education. The organization attracts steadfast support from luminaries across the worlds of film, fashion, and music, including the late Elizabeth Taylor, Karl Lagerfeld, and David Bowie, along with influential global leaders such as former U.S. President Bill Clinton.
In 2012, Wang made a significant contribution as a sponsor of the Paris Inspiration Gala, in collaboration with the renowned luxury jewelry brand Piaget and cosmetic giant M.A.C Viva Glam. Her dedication deepened further when she chaired both the Los Angeles and New York Inspiration Galas in 2013 and 2014, working closely with amfAR Chairman Kenneth Cole. In 2015, Wang extended her gracious patronage to amfAR Milano, an event dedicated to supporting the foundation’s crucial research and education initiatives. These illustrious galas have honored esteemed figures such as Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, philanthropist Aileen Getty, fashion icon Valentino, actress Goldie Hawn, visionary designer Tom Ford, and global superstar Jennifer Lopez, all celebrated for their remarkable dedication to the fight against AIDS.
In 2016, Wang expanded her philanthropic reach to include Catholic Charities USA, an organization that has served the most vulnerable populations in the United States for over a century. Through its mission of providing essential care and championing social justice, Catholic Charities USA has inspired countless individuals to offer their support and compassion to those in need.
Wang’s compassion also extends to animal welfare. A passionate advocate for the protection of mistreated animals, she supports the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA). Established in 1824, the RSPCA is the world’s oldest and most influential animal welfare organization, pioneering and enforcing legislation to ensure the dignity and well-being of animals. Wang’s steadfast dedication to this cause reflects her deep belief that all living creatures deserve to be treated with love, respect, and care.
